Instruction

I have been a teacher all my life, and of kayaking since 2001. I am an American Canoe Association Instructor Trainer in both Whitewater and Coastal Kayaking. I've managed UCLA's Sea Kayak program and California Canoe & Kayak's Whitewater and Valley Programs. I travel to teach at symposiums and teach part-time in my backyard in Mendocino.

My philosophy of teaching is to give the students the tools and concepts they need to develop through their own practice. I focus on fundamentals and understanding, whether teaching beginners or certifying instructors. Classes are simply the first part of true learning.

If you are interested in my services as a coach, or would just like some advice on what to learn, please contact me and I'd be happy to discuss options.
